Prairie View Retired Teachers and Education Personnel Association

The Prairie View Retired Teachers Education Professionals (formerly the Retired Teachers Association) was founded in Prairie View by a group of retired personnel from Prairie View Agricultural and Mechanical College in 1959.  This group of dedicated individuals was led by Mrs. Burdine in her home to discuss the opportunity to support each other. The subsequent meetings were held in the Parish Hall of the St. Francis of Assisi Epicopal Church and continues through today.

The organization is now lead by Mrs. Jocelyn Thornton, a retired head librarian and administrator at Texas A&M University. Thornton formerly served as Director of Libraries at Prairie View A&M University.
