Like St. Francis of Assisi, the members of St. Francis of Asissi Episcopal Church in Prairie View have hosted the Blessing of the Animals, since its formation.  Past events have seen the event hosted amidst the torrential rain where Reverend's Dr. Cynthia Engle and Dr. Bob Merrill took time out to bless the animals brought forward by the community.  One such animal that refused to come out in the rain was the beloved cat of Donald and Bea Sowell, who received the blessing in the cage.

Veterinarians Drs. Halcyon Watkins and Wendel Baker provided medical information and gave shots to the needy pet.

Lowe's Cypress provided treats for the animals, including a lovely Bird Feed, pumpkin, potted plants and other items for display and sharing.

The Prairie View Volunteer Fire Department personnel were also on hand to share fire safety tips and provided a guided tour of its latest apparatus to the community.  Our own senior warden Dr. Glenn Berry was fitted with a firefighters apparatus and was dubbed an honorary firefighter for a day.
