Harvey to speak at Men's Breakfast on December 15, 2018

Danny Harvey, Director of a CFP Board-Registered Financial Planning & Finance Faculty at Prairie View A&M University is the Men's Breakfast speaker on December 15 at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church at 8:30 a.m. -10:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall of the church at 204 Dooley Street, Prairie View.  The free breakfast is open to the men of the community, who are asked to reserve a seat and confirm their attendance at 936-857-3272 or email: stfrancispv@sbcglobal.net.

 

Harvey is a successful educator, speaker and Portfolio Manager/Analyst with broad-based experience and hands-on skills in the financial and global energy industries.  He has been recognized for delivering high-quality work on time, managing a broad range of responsibilities, and thriving under pressure.

Prior to Prairie View A&M University, Harvey served as an Adjunct Professor at DeVry University, Commodities Trade Control Analyst with Barclays Investment Bank, and Portfolio Manager with Invesco and was also a Systems Project Analyst.  While with Invesco, he was responsible for actively managing and trading more than $70 billion in assets, across varying sectors and currencies (U.S., Canada, U.S. Dollar offshore, tax-exempt, government, and corporate securities and money market funds). He also successfully negotiated terms and conditions of trades with brokers and ensured success.

 

As a member of the finance faculty, Harvey has exposed his students to various financial institutions to include participation in the “From the Classroom to the Trading Room” workshop at the Wells Fargo New York, visit to the New York Stock Exchange for the opening and closing of the market, a financial leadership program at Goldman Sachs, Williams Capital, Bloomberg LP headquarters and Texas A&M University’s Financial Planning Conference to name a few.  He also assisted students in hosting various seminars and workshops, including the Money Matters Program and the Real Talk on Personal Finance with the Collegiate 100 of Prairie View A&M University.

 

Harvey holds the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) degree in Global Energy from the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston and the Bachelor degree in Economics from Texas A&M University.  Additionally he completed an international business residency in Beijing and Xi'an, China; holds Certification in Oil & Gas Financial and Valuation Modeling from Wall Street Prep in Energy and holds certification in Accounting, Advanced Excel techniques, Valuation & Financial Modeling (Operating, DCF Analysis, LBO, and M&A) from Texas A&M University. Other certifications include TC Cowin Financial Literacy Summer Institute, Teachers College, Columbia University, and WISE Certification in Personal Finance Working.

 

In addition to his teaching responsibility, Mr. Harvey serves as a Mentor with the Caring Aggies Mentor Program which provide support to children as they develop through school and to inspire them to pursue higher education; building confidence and leadership skills; providing fun, life-enriching experiences; and role modeling qualities of success.   He also finds time to volunteer with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Leadership Houston Class XXXVI, United Way's Project Blueprint, Bauer College Alumni Association Board Member, MBA/EMBA Engagement Chair, Finance Committee Co-Chair; Houston Black Leadership Institute, American Association of Blacks in Energy (Houston Chapter) Board Member and Treasurer, National Black MBA Association Houston Chapter, Inc. Board Member and Financial Secretary. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the National Society of Black Engineers and the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference.

 

Some of his Honors & Awards are the National Finalist for HBCU Male Faculty of the Year from the HBCU Digest, Who’s Who in Black Houston, Faculty Research Development Grant for $20,000 for the financial literacy outreach program - "Panthers in the Black" and a $25,000 to develop and enhance the financial planning program at Prairie View A&M University and the TD Ameritrade Emerging Programs Grant.
